Dear NPA Community,
This is a pivotal moment. The FDA has announced a public hearing on the future of psychedelic therapy, and they are actively seeking input from patients, practitioners, advocates, and the broader community.
On September 14, 2026, the FDA will hold its Considerations for Potential Future Therapeutic Use of Psychedelic Drugs Public Hearing. This is a rare opportunity to shape how these medicines are regulated, accessed, and delivered in supervised settings across the country.
This is not a formality. This hearing will inform how the FDA thinks about psychedelic therapy for years to come. Shaping topics like: who gets access, what does “supervised and supportive” really mean, how do we ensure patient safety without creating unnecessary barriers, and more. Your voice, as someone who believes in the healing potential of these medicines, matters enormously.
Here is how you can participate:
Register to attend or request to speak (deadline: August 21, 2026) Visit the FDA registration page to sign up for the hearing or submit a request to present oral comment. Space for speakers is limited, so act fast.
Submit written comments (deadline: October 5, 2026) Even if you cannot attend in person, written comments carry significant weight. Share your perspective on what safe, equitable, and accessible psychedelic therapy should look like. If you have directly benefited from psychedelic therapy, or if you have witnessed its impact on others, the FDA needs to hear that. Policy is shaped by data, but it is moved by human experience.
