About the NPA
What is Psychedelic-Assisted Care (PAC)?
Psychedelic-Assisted Care, or PAC, has existed in different forms at different times. Its most recent re-imagining in the United States is limited to specific states. Our goal at the National Psychedelics Association is to be the central resource for the industry nationally, and our focus will expand as more states allow for this care.
How does the NPA support its members?
We support clinical service providers and practitioners, helping them run their practice with ease, stay compliant, and expand access to life-changing care. Our mission is to simplify the work of great providers so they can focus on what matters most, helping patients in need heal and thrive.
What is the focus of the NPA’s advocacy work?
Our advocacy work focuses on furthering the legislative agenda in states that already allow for Psychedelic-Assisted Care, and on supporting thorough, considered legislation in states that are still weighing it. This includes expanding access in existing states, such as allowing right-to-try Psychedelic-Assisted Care at home for those facing end-of-life or terminal diagnoses, and supporting new legislation, such as the recent law passed in New Mexico.
What is the difference between the National Psychedelics Association and NPA Foundation?
The National Psychedelics Association is the member-governed home for practitioners and healing centers. NPA Foundation is our sister 501(c)(3) organization, and it carries out the advocacy, litigation, and access work that supports the whole field. Foundation efforts include drafting model legislation, building economic-impact arguments, and pursuing legal cases such as the DEA rescheduling petition and Cusker v. Oregon Health Authority.

Membership and Pricing
Who is eligible for membership with the NPA?
We currently welcome two types of member in the Psychedelic-Assisted Care space: state-licensed facilitators, who offer preparation, guidance, and integration to individual patients, and state-licensed healing centers. We also welcome members in each category who are not yet licensed, are seeking to apply for their license, or want support with their license application. We currently operate on a state-by-state basis, with membership open to those in states where Psychedelic-Assisted Care is legal.
What membership tiers are available, and what do they cost?
We offer three tiers. Healing Center membership is $250 per month, with an early-bird rate of $200 per month for your first full 12 months. Facilitator membership is $80 per month, with an early-bird rate of $50 per month for your first full 12 months. Associate Facilitator membership is free, and it is designed for newly trained or early-career facilitators who are not yet operating at full capacity.
What is included with each membership tier?
Healing Center membership includes the Homecoming Practice Management Platform for up to three users, marketing and client development services, negotiated banking and payment processing, compliance advisory support, HR and payroll solutions, and live chat support. Facilitator membership includes the platform for one user, marketing and lead generation support, negotiated payment processing, two continuing education credits with Fluence Training, and license support. Associate Facilitator membership includes freemium platform access and pre-negotiated community rates on payment processing. General and professional liability insurance, and malpractice insurance, are coming soon for Healing Center and Facilitator members.
Are membership fees billed monthly or annually?
You can choose which you’d prefer, either monthly, or annually. Invoices go out at the beginning of each billing cycle and are due within 15 days.
What is the early-bird rate, and how long does it last?
Healing Centers joining now pay $200 per month, rather than $250, for their first full 12 months. Facilitators pay $50 per month, rather than $80, for their first full 12 months. These rates are available to current applicants.
What states are currently supported?
Oregon and Colorado. We are actively monitoring legislative developments in other states and will expand membership as new state programs come online.
Can I upgrade my membership later?
Yes. Associate Facilitators can upgrade to Facilitator membership at any time. Contact us at info@yournpa.org and we will send you a revised agreement.
Can I cancel my membership?
Yes. Members may terminate their membership by providing 30 days’ written notice to the NPA. Contact details are included in your membership agreement.
Eligibility and Getting Involved
I’m not yet eligible for full membership. How can I get involved?
Associate Facilitator membership is free and designed for newly trained or early-career facilitators. It gives you a professional home, access to essential tools, and a pathway into the NPA community at no cost. When you are ready to grow, upgrading to Facilitator membership is straightforward.
Do you accept inquiries from people outside licensed practice?
Yes. We welcome inquiries and interest from anyone involved in or interested in the Psychedelic-Assisted Care market, and we will help however we can. Please don’t hesitate to contact us.
How do I apply for membership?
Applying is very quick, and relatively (soon to be fully) automated. Complete the sign-up form with your details, select your membership type and state, and submit. You will receive your membership agreement via a follow-up email. Review it, sign digitally, and you’re done. You will receive a signed copy of your agreement, for your records, when it is signed by an NPA representative also. For Healing Center and Facilitator members, your first invoice follows your signed agreement.
Will membership expand to other parts of the industry?
Yes. In time, we will expand our membership provision to include other professionals serving this industry. Our ambitions include supporting manufacturers, cultivators, and testing facilities specific to the Psychedelic-Assisted Care space as membership types. If you are connected to those parts of the industry, please subscribe for updates or contact us to stay informed.
Advocacy and Policy
What is psilocybin rescheduling, and why does it matter?
Psilocybin is currently a Schedule I controlled substance under federal law in the United States, a classification that severely restricts its use to research purposes only. Since February 2022, we have worked with Dr. Sunil Aggarwal to petition the DEA to reschedule psilocybin to Schedule II, which would open pathways for compassionate clinical use under medical supervision. On August 11, 2025, the DEA formally advanced the petition to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for scientific and medical review, a historic step in this effort.
What is Right to Try, and how does it apply to psychedelic-assisted care?
State and federal Right to Try laws recognize the urgent needs of patients facing life-threatening conditions, giving them access to investigational drugs that have completed phase I clinical trials and remain under investigation. Our Director of Advocacy represents a Seattle palliative care physician (Dr. Sunil Aggarwal) and several patients with advanced cancer who are seeking access to psilocybin under Right to Try laws. This work also requires federal litigation to clarify the DEA’s obligation to accommodate these laws.
Is psychedelic-assisted care legal where I live?
Psychedelic-assisted care is currently legal under state law in Oregon and Colorado, and New Mexico has passed the nation’s first legislatively adopted state psychedelic law. Psilocybin remains a Schedule I controlled substance under federal law. We are actively monitoring legislative developments in other states.
